At Malberry we have been growing specific cannabis seed genetics in an attempt to bring back the basics. Our marijuana regular seeds are the real deal and the closest to original Sativa cannabis seed strains you will find anywhere . The Cannabis genus is typically considered to have two species, Cannabis indica and Cannabis sativa. A third species known as Cannabis Ruderalis differs from the other two species in a few key ways. Ruderalis is very short, produces only trace amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and flowers independently of the photoperiod and according to age and thus these genetics are used in breeding autoflowering strains . Pure C Sativa’s are relatively tall and can reach as tall as 4 meters or more , with long internodes and branches, and large, narrow-bladed leaves. On the other hand Pure indica varieties are shorter and bushier, have wider leaflets, and are often favored by indoor growers. Sativa’s tend to bloom later than their indica counterparts ,often taking more than 30 to 60 days longer to mature. The subjective effects of saliva’s and Indica`s differ quite significantly when targeting CB1 and 2 receptors and non CB receptors in the human body , but yet the ratio of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) to cannabidiol ( CBD) in most named cannabis varieties are relatively the same . Unlike most commercial Cannabis of mixed genetic makeup and with varying THC/ CBD ratios of both Sativa and Indica ,the difference in application to the human body is quite apparent, the pure indica landraces , targets mainly the CB1 receptor and not the CB2 and non CB receptors and therefore is useful for treating sleeping disorders and insomnia and more recently used in treating withdrawal symptoms in both alcohol and hardline drugs now add the science of Neuropsychopharmacology means there are more exiting breakthroughs on the horizon.
The Kush refers to a main subset of strains of Cannabis indica ,Royal Kush , the queen of the Kush , all have relatively high CBD to THC ratio typical of hashish and traditionally are produced in regions where these landraces are grown northern Afghanistan and Pakistan and in the north western Indian Hindu Kush mountains . In the southern Peshawar districts and mid-eastern Asian regions more sativa is produced in the green areas and these are the grand parents of the lush green African Sativa landraces .Sativa are more lively and wider in their psycho active attributes and in specific strains of pure sativa, there are far more target specific medicinal applications, such as treatment for and prevention of Parkinson disease, Alzheimer’s and alcoholism to name a few . They target both the CB1 and CB2 and all the non CB receptors . Ruderalis has its own definite benefits as this targets all the non CB receptors. In addition to “pure” indica, sativa, and Ruderalis varieties, hybrid varieties with varying ratios of these three types are now common. There are now commercial the crossbred hybrids which contain a mix of both Ruderalis, Indica and/or sativa genes are attempts to get the best of three worlds .The cross breeding of sativa and indica and Ruderalis becomes a more adventurous as the product is a autoflowering version of Cannabis .Hence the ”Lowryder” this is the most popular of auto-flowering hybrids as it retains the auto-flowering characteristic of Ruderalis plants, while producing reasonable amounts of THC/ CBD. Autoflowering marijuana varieties are somewhat considered advantageous by some growers due to their discreet size, lower smell and shorter growing periods, and more advantageously that they do not rely on a change in light schedule to determine when to flower. Hence the term automatic flowering or autoflowering
Identifying the different strains nowadays can be tricky if not sometimes quiet daunting without knowing the DNA analysis. Varieties are comonly named by the breeder , grower or even nowadays an organisation or even cartels for that matter ! Differentiating one from another can therefore be hard and we buttoned down to using their names without knowing the DNA of the plant . By rule of thumb a Kush is a pure indica the subset strains for Indica dominant are BC Bud, Malberry , Blueberry, OG Kush, Northern Lights, Purple ,White Widow The pure Sativa’s are Malâwi gold, Nepali Rukum ,Peshawar Afghani, Bhutanese Thimpu ,Mulanje Gold thus their Sativa dominant Subset strains are Diesel, Haze, Shaman, Skunk and Sour. All Marijuana have some medical benefits when taken in moderation but the Pure Kush And the pure Sativa have by far the most medical benefits as the genetic structures are not bastardised and all 400+ chemical compounds are correctly chained and are present to target both CB receptors and non CB receptors . One can imagine with the mixed strains a key fitting a lock but unable to turn it, and when the chain is correct a perfectly fully functioning key . Considering the foregoing then should we not use the pure strains for medicinal use and the mixed strains for recreational use ? We had become complacent in eating gm foods and the stark reality of its complications are finally hitting home and the question begs should we not be the same way with cannabis that we consume and perhaps use mixed strains in more moderation in its recreational use . GM does work to a point but when the boundaries are stretched beyond our imagination then its beyond reality and thus we then sail in unchartered waters. Unfortunately it seems we have abandoned reality and lost track in the commercialization of cannabis- Amsterdam has become the Monsanto. What Monsanto have done for genetically modified grains Amsterdam has done to the genetically modified cannabis. In extremely competitive markets, such as in Amsterdam and now California, there are significant pressures to create unique varieties to dominate the cannabis consumer markets. This always results in a number of new distinct variety names that refer to very similar cannabis breeds. When a particular variety becomes popular, many breeders and growers find themselves head to head in this competitive market and will adopt a monkey see monkey do attitude and will therefore produce many similar variations of the same variety and using similar names to corner a market space . ie the name presets the sub set strains for indica and sativa .In the quest for the bigger buzz with the more psycho active Kick. The intentional creation of new varieties are therfore by design to find a niche in the market place instead of creation over the millennia and natural evolution .This approach therefore involves selective breeding in a well-controlled environment and in most cases by the blind leading the blind . The seeds produced by a germinated female will be F1 hybrids of the male and female. These offspring will not be identical to their parents but will have the characteristics of both the parents .There are techniques that can stabilize certain characteristics of unstabilized hybrids however it will always be of questionable quality. There are however switched on breeders that know what they on about that will produce stable hybrid varieties but they are few . The production of Feminized seeds also takes place in a well-controlled environment. Cuttings are made from a female plant the main plant is forced into shock by stress by introduction of colloidal silver or by changing is immediate environmental conditions , the female plant will then produce a small amount of male flowers. The male pollen is collected and used to fertilize the existing female flowers or cuttings , the seeds that plant produces are now devoid of the male chromosome thus without the male chromosome the seeds from these plants will be feminized cannabis seeds and 99% of the time will grow into female plants with perhaps a small percentage becoming hermaphrodites. In a more traditional ‘’ regular ‘’and natural way, male plants, once identified by their ball-like stamen, will be separated from female flowers. This prevents accidental fertilization of the female plants from going into seed flowering. The Regular being more preferred by the cannabis connoisseurs, to tickle the taste buds, or for the production of regular high grade medical cannabis than that of the feminized approach . There is a huge difference between a natural female plant and feminized plant .Ultimately the greener is better and more efforts should be made in turning back the clock and stop the insanity of the grow . There are attempts been made to steady the ship in northern California in the Humboldt area ,there is the Humboldt Seeds Organization which is a collective of growers and breeders working toward producing high quality organic marijuana for dispensaries, collecting and testing seeds and clones of the best strains and researching into target specific medical strains. Such efforts should be applauded. There are a few organizations alike and working toward a better future for the preservation of old school marijuana Malberry seeds is no different . We are going back even further to producing closer original strains for everyone to benefit. Malberry in most instances provide seed at bare cost at approximately 2 to 3 U$C wholesaling by the kilogram .We have NOW introduced MUCH smaller packs of 100 to 300 grams at 4 to 6 U$C in attempt to make seed more afordable . For research institutions working toward medical research WE will ALWAYS provide seed for free. Our ultimate quest is in the oil for the production of oil for medicinal use THAT MEANS OUR LADIES HAVE BABYS ,MAKING THINGS AS NATURAL AS POSSIBLE add some TLC for good THC thus giving you the benefit of pure target specific cannabis seeds at more than 90 % cheaper than anywhere else in the world .
